It won’t be long before the fourth season of “American Horror Story” premieres on FX.

Avid AHS fans have their calendars marked for October 8th. But we have uncovered some hints about the new season of our favorite show so you can get your fix now.

It’s about sideshow performers

Just like the Strangling Brothers haunted attraction in Salt Lake City, the newest season of American Horror Story focuses on sideshow performers. All the characters will be new and many of them will be “freaks”: a three-legged contortionist, a sword swallower, an extremely short woman, and a woman with…shall we say, extra body parts. This season is subtitled “Freak Show.”

We’re sure the Strangling Brothers freaks would love to join the cast…if they could escape our Salt Lake City haunted attraction.

It’s set in the 1950s

The timing of this season is culturally important. It takes place as old-fashioned sideshows, carnivals and circuses were losing popularity. Like the other season, it seems likely that this will be used metaphorically, in this case to deal with issues of alienation.

It’s got your favorites coming back

Like other seasons, many of the actors will be returning to the series in a different role. Jessica Lange, for instance, played a deceased woman in a haunted house in Season 1. In Season 2, she was a nun running an insane asylum, and in Season 3, she was simply bewitching.

In the fourth season of “American Horror Story,” she’s set to play the leader of the freak show, complete with a commanding German accent. Other returning actors include Sara Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts and Gabourey Sidibe.

It’s been freaking out the actors

Viewers aren’t the only ones who will fear the freak show. The production has been so disturbing that it has caused the actors to have trouble sleeping. Roberts says she got nightmares from reading the Season 4 scripts. Bates, no stranger to creepiness from her award-winning role in “Misery,” said after shooting her first scene, she was unable to go to sleep—and then promptly dozed off for 30 straight hours.

Just like any good haunted attraction, we’re certain our real-life, in-your-face disturbing freak show will give you terrifying nightmares as well. Que up your Netflix to be sure you have something to do with all those extra nighttime hours.

It will freak you out

Creator Ryan Murphy says Season 4 will have the scariest evil clown ever seen on screen. Twisty the Clown is upset that the town where he committed his most brutal murders has been taken over by the freak show. Twisty comes out of retirement to take his revenge on the invading freaks. Murphy said a lot of the crew members couldn’t even watch the filming because they were so disturbed.Demented clowns? Yeah, we may know a thing or two about them…
